How to Overcome Writer’s Block Using The Fail-Proof Solution

Scour the net (hereherehere for example) and you will find countless ‘resources’ on overcoming dreaded writer’s block.

But (and we know it seems hard right now) the fail-proof solution is to ‘write’ anything, anywhere and then let your writing ‘evolve’ to overcome your writer’s block.

Because non-writing activities and getting a great night’s sleep (for example) are tips that only get you so far.

While ‘stimulating’ your brain (by writing anything, anywhere) encourages positive endorphins (like exercise) that inspire more action taking to achieve success sooner.   

So first:

  1. Take 3 big deep breaths (as deep you can)
  2. Grab your nearest pen (or anything you can write with)
  3. Paper (or anything you can write on).

Write:

  1.  
  2.  
  3.  

On your paper (or whatever it is).

Then simply ‘write’ the ‘first 3 things’ on your mind.

And that is ‘anything’ that first comes to your mind.

Picture that this is worth $10,000,000 to you or whatever it takes!

Because this is the ‘process’ of overcoming writer’s block.

By ‘engaging your brain’ (no matter how you feel right now), you have acted, and now are operating on instinct (when you’re at your best!).

Because who cares what you wrote down?!

That is not the point of this exercise and it doesn’t matter!

Because you have now (by doing this exercise)

  • Pushed ‘through’ your writer’s block
  • Acted ‘on’ your writer’s block.

You are now ‘in-tune’ with your thoughts, and as a writer, that’s when you’re at your best!

Now do one of two things:

  • Keep writing (letting it ‘evolve’ to see if you can continue to build ‘momentum’ to write more)
  • Reward yourself (if you’re still feeling burnt out) by going for a long walk, flying a kite or choosing any non-writing activity.

But after you’ve rewarded yourself continue this ‘exercise of writing anything, anywhere’ as a routine to simply write yourself out of writer’s block!
